Thee Sinseers - Love Stories [audioCD]

Dive into Love Stories by Thee Sinseers, released via COLEMINE RECORDS. This album moves beyond the neat and tidy narrative of romance, focusing instead on the complexities that precede, follow, and exist in spite of love. The band deliberately leaned into earthier instrumentation, utilizing standup bass and guitars run through amplifiers to achieve a warmer, sixties-adjacent tone, resulting in music that defies easy categorization.

Album Exploration and Style

Thee Sinseers sought to capture honesty rather than just a highlight reel, showcasing the highs and lows of romantic relationships while expanding the scope to include familial, complicated, and unresolved connections. The cross-genre thinking is a defining quality, with the band feeling they were making "their music" rather than strictly soul music. The album art features the band's parents, folding their own love stories into the visual identity.

Themes and Artistic Intent

• Every song title directs the listener down a different road of love, exploring outcomes where one might win or lose.
• The music aims to leave listeners with ambiguity, reflecting the idea that love is never-ending and stretches beyond lifetimes.
• The East LA identity of the band is woven into the fabric of the music without being overtly announced.
• The album carries the weight of everything felt but never quite said, presenting genuine heartbreak without performance.
