The Wise Ones

Experience the latest masterpiece from Gretchen Parlato, a vocalist renowned for reshaping modern jazz singing with her distinctive phrasing, tone, and rhythmic prowess. Fifteen years after her seminal album 'In a Dream,' Parlato returns to the innovative sound that defined her career. 'The Wise Ones' sees her reunite with collaborators Robert Glasper, Gerald Clayton, Mark Guiliana, and Alan Hampton, weaving together songs composed over two decades into a unified narrative.

At 50, Parlato offers a perspective of balance, gratitude, and presence, bridging youth and elderhood. This album features guest artists Becca Stevens, Amber Navran, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Josh Mease, creating a generational dialogue where artists influenced by Parlato now collaborate with her. The album poses a profound question: how do we honor our past selves while embracing our future growth? The answer is revealed through masterful use of space, groove, restraint, and emotional clarity, solidifying 'The Wise Ones' as a defining statement from one of jazz's most influential voices.
