Rick Braun - Rick Braun Plays Chuck Mangione [audioCD]

Flugelhorn/trumpeter Rick Braun delivers his first-ever tribute album, Rick Braun Plays Chuck Mangione, pouring his creative soul into this deeply personal project sparked by Mangione's passing in July 2025. This collection offers a fresh, joyous revisit of iconic melodies from the legendary Chuck Mangione.

Album Highlights and Collaborations

Braun balances technical mastery with reverence across the album, featuring an extraordinary roster of collaborators. Guests include original Mangione guitarist Grant Geissman, saxophonists Richard Elliot and Tom Scott, keyboardist Philippe Saisse, and flutist Steve Kujala. Standout moments include the soaring orchestration of 'Land of Make Believe' and an amped-up rendition of 'Feels So Good'.

The lead single, 'Give It All You Got,' is a new interpretation of Braun's second Billboard Hot 100 hit. Produced by Philippe Saisse, this track features a powerhouse sax solo from Tom Scott and a buoyant groove from the core rhythm section, doubling Braun's horn with Scott's over the jangling guitar of Tony Pulizzi to deliver immediate, infectious energy.

Artist Significance

With over three decades and 20+ #1 Billboard hits in his genre-defining career, this tribute marks an auspicious and emotional start to Rick Braun's fourth decade of recording, capturing the 'overwhelming sense of happiness' that defined Mangione's impact.
