Dad's Army [DVD]

Relive the hilarious exploits of the Walmington-on-Sea platoon in this complete collection of the classic BBC sitcom, Dad's Army. Created and written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, the show follows the farcical defense efforts of the Home Guard unit starting in May 1940. This nostalgic comedy, which ran from 1968 to 1977, captures the surprisingly realistic shambles of the early volunteer defense force.

The series centers on the pompous bank manager, Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe), who gathers a loyal but incompetent group of local men to defend their town against invasion. The writing duo also brought audiences other beloved comedies like 'Allo 'Allo and Hi-De-Hi!.
