Description

SOTC II is an album by Brooklyn music group Standing on the Corner, whose work moves between composition, performance, film, installation and sound. Its sound brings together psychedelia, rock ’n’ roll, no-wave rap, R&B and post-hardcore energy.

Rooted in cultural exchange between the USA, Puerto Rico and Africa, Standing on the Corner draws on soul, punk, salsa, doo-wop, jazz, funk, avant-garde and rap traditions through a New York City sensibility.

Recorded by bandleader Gio Escobar with core collaborators Jack “Wacko” Nolan, Buz “Man-man” Donald and Clérida “Ca$h Clay” Eltimé, the album features The Warlockettes, Ladybug Mecca, Styles P, Bubba Dupree, Claudette Ortiz, Sonia Sanchez, Solange and Danny Brown.
