Phil Woods - Here's To My Lady [CD]

Here's To My Lady is a bebop album by alto saxophonist Phil Woods, accompanied by the Tommy Flanagan Trio. This one-disc audio CD presents an acoustic jazz session originally released in 1989.

Woods brings a warm, expressive tone and fluent bebop playing to a varied set, moving from reflective ballads to lively swing. The quartet features pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist George Mraz and drummer Kenny Washington.

The repertoire pairs post-bop originals by Tom Harrell and Hal Galper with tributes to jazz figures Johnny Hodges and Charlie Parker. Woods also plays clarinet on three tracks, bringing a distinctive warmth to the instrument.
